Where can I purchase HUMYDRY® anti-damp products?
You can purchase HUMYDRY® products on this website through our shop or via email on
[email protected].
Are the products toxic? Can they be used in a childs bedroom?
All HUMYDRY® products are for domestic use. They can be used without any problem in any room in the house, whether inside a wardrobe, in bathrooms or in store rooms – even in bedrooms.
The granulate contained in the refills is calcium chloride, hygroscopic salts which are not toxic. As stated on the packaging, this is a substance classed as an Irritant (Xi).
Under regulations, the following warning phrases must appear: R-36 Irritates eyes, S-22 Do not breathe in powder and S-24 Avoid contact with the skin.
Also, as a precaution you should keep it out of reach of children. Like any other chemical you have in your possession, including an air freshener, soap or eau de Cologne, you must follow the recommendations for use.
The product must not be tampered with once it has been put into operation. We recommend that you put it in a safe place where it cannot be knocked over, so that the liquid which collects in the bottom container is not spilt.
How can I reduce the humidity level?
In order to solve the humidity problems in a room, bathroom, store room, etc. first of all you need to find out the cause of the excess humidity:
1) If the humidity comes from outside, caused by a leak or by defective insulation, our products will help to reduce the level of ambient humidity, but will not solve the problem for good. The best thing to do is to consult an insulation specialist so as to solve the root of the problem.
2) If the problem is due to excess ambient humidity in the room because of poor ventilation or condensation, we recommend that you use, depending on the space to be treated, the HUMYDRY Magnum product with 1 kg of active granulate (if the room is a large one, up to 80m³), or else HUMYDRY® Compact with 450g (for medium-sized spaces such as bathrooms, wardrobes, etc. up to 35m³). How it works Put the product anywhere in the room and leave it to work.
The granulate will activate automatically, absorbing the excess humidity and depositing it in liquid form in the bottom container. The liquid collected can easily be emptied down the toilet or sink.
Once the granulate has been used up, put in a new HUMYDRY® refill. How long the product lasts depends on the temperature and level of humidity in the room. It works without electricity or batteries. HUMYDRY granulate regulates the level of ambient humidity to bring it down to the recommended optimum level of 45-50%, without drying out the atmosphere, absorbing only the excess humidity.
This granulate is activated automatically when the relative humidity in the air exceeds about 45%. When the humidity falls below this level, the granulate stops working. The fact that the granulate has compacted does not mean that the product has stopped working. It is in fact the first sign that the product is working as it should. The granulate is compacted when it has absorbed a certain amount of humidity, but not enough to be saturated and start to drip. The full process does not take any fixed time, as it depends on the ambient temperature and level of humidity.
What HUMYDRY® product should I use to remove the smell from a sofa?
To combat a bad smell from a sofa proceed in two steps:
1.) The excessive humidity in the room has probably caused mildew to form inside the filling of the sofa. Mildew is responsible for the typical damp smell. To fight this humidity use our HUMYDRY® COMPACT with 450g of active granulate for spaces up to 35m³, as well as the larger HUMYDRY® PREMIUM with 1 kg for spaces up to 80m³.
Recommended use: put the sofa in a closed room, put one of the above-mentioned moisture absorbers there and leave it to work, waiting for it to absorb the humidity which has built up inside the sofa. In this way the mildew cannot continue to spread, because to grow and multiply it needs humidity.
2.) Use our FRESHWAVE spray directly on the sofa. It will take the damp and mouldy smell away. Other sprays like to cover the smell for a while, but they will not make it go away. FRESHWAVE should make it go away.
If these two steps do not work to your satisfaction, we recommend washing the covers, if the fabric allows this, and changing the filling.
Remember to use then our products for prevention, to stop excess humidity from building up in a room and avoid the problems it causes.
How long do the products last?
How long our products last varies depending on the ambient temperature and humidity level. As a general guide, we can say that they last for between 1 and 3 months.
If the refill has petrified and is not dripping, is it not working properly? The fact that the granulate has compacted does not mean the product has stopped working; it is in fact the first sign that the product is working as it should. The granulate is compacted when it has absorbed a certain amount of humidity, but not enough to be saturated and start to drip.
The full process does not take any fixed time, as it depends on the ambient temperature and level of humidity.
What products should I use for a damp house thats only used on weekends?
We recommend using the following products: Use
Premium 1 kg plus with the Magnum Refill 1 kg, which also contains a larger amount of absorbent granulate, so that it will work for longer.
What are the advantages of HUMYDRY® products over electric dehumidifiers?
HUMYDRY® works without electricity, it does not consume power and you can put it wherever it is needed, in as many rooms and wardrobes as you think are necessary. It is also cheaper.
A moisture absorber or an air freshener?
HUMYDRY® is a moisture absorber which also acts as an air freshener. To make our customers' lives easier, we supply a single product with two complementary functions to create the ideal atmosphere in the home.
How long will it take to solve my problem with excess humidity?
This will depend on the amount of humidity in the atmosphere, but the continuous use of HUMYDRY® products will solve problems with bad smells, mildew and stains. Where the damage is due to moisture coming in from outside you will need to call in an expert.
Are HUMYDRY® products effective?
HUMYDRY® moisture absorbers have been scientifically tested by the
INSTITUT FRESENIUS laboratories in Germany, who certify their effectiveness.
How can I choose the right HUMYDRY® product?
For small spaces use a moisture absorber with about 100g of granulate. In a medium-sized space such as a bedroom, use a moisture absorber containing about 500g of granulate. In the case of a large space such as a living room, choose one of the moisture absorbers with the largest capacity, containing up to 1kg of absorbent granulate.
How do HUMYDRY® products work?
Without electricity or batteries. When humidity levels reach 45% or more, the granulate absorbs excess humidity and collects it in the form of liquid in the bottom container. Once the granulate is activated it compacts and when it is saturated it begins to drip. When it is used up, empty the liquid down the sink and put a new HUMYDRY® refill in.
If the humidity level is lower than 45% it automatically stops working, so it does not dry out the atmosphere.
What can I do to combat bad smells caused by dampness?
When you have problems with humidity in bathrooms or parts of the house that are often closed, damp patches appear on the walls, and clothes and everything else kept in the room become impregnated with a stale smell. In some cases this may be due to a lack of adequate ventilation. Continuous use of HUMYDRY® products helps to solve and prevent this problem, as well as perfuming the air with pleasant fragrances.
